Bio
Hello! I focus on phonetics and I focus on the interception of social identity and speech production at the University of California, Davis. I am in the process of writing my preliminary paper where I analyze ethnic and regional identity in California and the speech that those groups produce. I have some experience with fine-tuning large language models, using tools like Fasttext for sentiment classification, and I am honing my skills in R (this website was made in R!).
I was born and raised in Oklahoma and found myself living abroad and in various parts of the United States. When I am not doing school work, you can find me playing my Nintendo Switch, traveling, and baking bread. My ultimate goal is to find gainful employment in the European Union.

1 May 2025:
As a co-chair for the Cluster on Language Research, I am tasked with organizing and hosting an annual symposium. The planning process is going along well and I am looking forward to it! Check out the Cluster Website for more information.
27 May 2025:
The 11th annual Symposium on Language Research went very well. I presented for the first time in front of an audience and we had a wonderful keynote address from Dr. Lina Hou from UC Santa Barbara. Chairing the symposium was incredibly exhausting but it prepared me to potentially host other big events in the future. Read on to find out more on the symposium.

With my second year of graduate school completed, I now look towards my Qualifying Exam (QE). If I successfully pass it, I move to candidate status. I am truly nervous and excited to be moving in that direction.
However, before then I will attend my first international conference in Foggia, Italy. The conference is called La Comunicazione Parlata where I will be presenting my poster on my work investigating production differences between Americans of East Asian descent and Americans of European descent. That paper will be hosted on my website soon.
